AbstractOcular prothesis to dividing Of polimetilmetacrilatoIntroduction: the ocular prostheses are known long before the egyptians, for artistic and doctors indicating the existence of the ancient profession. In our time, its was popularized at the time of the first and second world war, due to the number of wounded with ocular compromise; in Colombia, it is unknown how this profession enters, and its development has been very anachronistic, even as it is employee, continues to craft techniques, that have evolved very little during the latter half of last century; and in this regard, are not known reliable indicators that reflect the reality on this issue. Methodology: iIt proposes a study to identify a method of making ocular prosthetis made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and answer a scientific process into two phases: the first, with an exploratory approach, which seeks to recognize the method for this purpose (materials, equipments , for making processes of printing, design and aesthetic finishes), the second, has an experimental approach aimed at testing in the first instance, the physical and chemical properties of the prosthesis such as strength, durability, solubility, color and weight, and at the second instance, its adherence to microbes like Staphylococco aureus , and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Results: recognize the scientific process by which we can manufacture an ocular prosthesis, its physical and chemical properties, microbiological that may be reproducible, economic, non-toxic that it does not affect the orbital cavity, or put at risk the patient’s health. Keywords: ocular prosthesis, polymethylmethacrylate, physiochemicalstudy, microbiological study ER -
